Life expectancy of men in Stockport Boroughs

In stark contrast, men living in the Brinnington and Central ward live to an average age of 71 years – similar to that of Mexico and Iran – and 14 years fewer than those in Bramhall South. Women in Brinnington and Central live longer, up to 76 years of age – similar to Serbia and China – but still significantly less than Bramhall.

Dr Stephen Watkins, director of public health and author of the report, is keen to emphasise huge disparities. He highlights that life expectancy in Bramhall South is 13.3 years greater for men and 10.8 years greater for women than in Brinnington and Central ward.
