Katy Sixsmith
I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor who is working towards BACP Accreditation early next year. I am a full member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have recently completed a course in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
I fell into the world of counselling by chance and have never looked back! Many years in a financial/office environment inspired me to look for a complete change and fulfilment. After receiving counselling myself I decided to to do a foundation course and I was hooked! I loved the empathic, trusting environment that counselling can bring and decided to go on and qualify as a Counsellor.
I have worked as a Counsellor within a Primary Care Trust/NHS environment for the last 2 and half years. I have experience in working with a wide range of topics such as bereavement, loss, stress and anxiety, confidence and self esteem issues, depression. domestic violence, childhood abuse , family/relationship breakdown and anger.
I also have experience in counselling adolescents within a school environment and facilitating group work.
I enjoy the real, human connection that counselling can bring and feel that my naturally warm, empathic character helps me to create a trusting relationship where clients can feel safe to explore their issues and options for a brighter future.
My relevant qualifications:
Diploma in Counselling
Cert in CBT skills for Counsellors
Cert in Counselling Skills
Cert in Counselling Concepts
Registered member of British association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
thank you
