Gill slater
I originally trained as a primary teacher, teaching both here and in Africa. On my return to the UK I completed various counselling course and worked privately and in the public sector; mind, st Mary's sexual assault centre and RELATE.
In 1998 I began my training as a remedial massage therapist at the Northern Institute of massage. I provide treatments for people of all ages and all walks of life both to alleviate general aches and pains but also to work on more specific problems. To extend my understanding of the body I completed various sports massage courses. I am also qualified in Usui and Jikiden Reiki. In march I am to train as a practitioner of Reconnective Healing with Dr Eric Pearl.
As part of my own need to be healthy, strong and flexible I began the practice of lyengar yoga 11 years ago and so began my passion for this ancient way of working with the whole body, mind and spirit. Five years ago I completed a teacher training in astanga yoga with Brian Cooper and Nawayoti.
My own yoga teaching is an amalgam of all I have learnt and more importantly used in my personal practice of yoga. My intention is always to enthuse, empower and lead the person to believe in their own body and its abilities to move, stretch and open. Through the use of postures, breath, relaxation and meditation I aim to provide a whole body experience.
