Acupuncture Therapies in Stockport
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medicine involving stainless steel needles being inserted into various points of the body. The body’s energy flow or ‘chi’ as it is known, is connected by meridians that flow throughout the body organs and their functions. Acupuncture helps to stimulate this energy flow enabling the patient’s well-being and promote healing.
Traditionally there were said to be 365 points in the body corresponding to the days of the year, however, over the past 2,000 years, proponents have discovered there are almost 2,000 sites.
Acupuncturists can also include moxi-bustion (the burning of herbs applied to the skin) and Chinese herbal medicine may be used in conjunction.
