Self help for depression

A study suggests that prescribing a self help book for depression can be beneficial form of treatment. According to a Researchers report in the journal Plos providing a person with a self help book for depression and three support lessons with an advisor can limit their symptoms of depression.Within in this study involving 200 patients they found that patients who went to see an advisor found that they had a better control of their depression compared to the people who didn't.

A book about CBT will not offer Empathy!

It is true that Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) uses the the power of questioning which reflects some of the issues that clients may have. Though all of these questions can be delivered by a trained therapist who is not only listening to the client but reading their body language and clearly understanding their issues.
