Increase in hospital admissions rates for eating disorders
These worrying statistic from 2011-2012 are "just a tip of the ice berg " states a eating disorder expert and there are plenty more young people falling through the catch net. Since the statistics are only covering patients who have fell seriously ill and have raised concerns of their physical & metal health.
One in every 10 of the admissions was a 15-year-old girl. Women made up 91% of admissions, up from 88% in 2010-11. A quarter of those admitted were discharged on the same day, while 5% spent at least six months as in-patients.
Apart from advertising of beautiful airbrushed models/celebrates in the front covers of Women's magazines & the ongoing push for women to look more like Barbie.
