TCM Pregnancy Care
Congratulations! You are pregnant!
We would like to recommend acupuncture as a wonderful therapy to help you maintain optimal health throughout your pregnancy.
Being pregnant can be troublesome as disturbed Qi occurs during pregnancy. Serious conditions like miscarriage may happen in certain cases. Acupuncture is a drug-free therapy, which makes it ideal for a wide range of problems throughout pregnancy.
To nourish the mother is to nourish the child.
Regular balancing acupuncture throughout pregnancy enhances the health of the mother, prevents complications and influences the development of the baby.
The First Trimester: (0-12 weeks)
Weekly pregnancy acupuncture is highly recommended at this stage. During the first trimester, there is a risk of miscarriage and an even higher risk with IVF pregnancies or cases where there has been recurrent miscarriage. Acupuncture is also a great solution to morning sickness which may occur at this stage.
The Second Trimester: (13-28 weeks)
During this stage we only offer acupuncture on pregnancy-related symptoms. It is our best wishes that we don’t see you during this time. Still, bear in mind, acupuncture can be your choice in many cases.
The Third Trimester: (29-40 weeks)
There are two parts of protocol during this stage.
First, we continue the theme from the second trimester. Acupuncture is on demand for pregnancy-related symptoms. What’s worth mentioning here is the amazing effect of acupuncture on turning breech babies.
The second part, which is also a very important part, is pre-birth acupuncture. We highly recommend weekly acupuncture from week 36 onwards in the final 4 weeks of pregnancy.
It is joyful to see expectant moms healthy and relaxed through this special time of their lives. What’s even better is that we are still here for you after childbirth.
Postpartum is an ideal time to use Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture to reactivate, rebuild and rebalance the body. More often the emphasis is on nourishing Qi and Blood, harmonizing Yin and Yang.
The restoration of women’s health after childbirth is not only imperative for their own well being and for their abilities to be present for their newborns, but also important to boost their confidence facing their new lives.
